BackAK welcomes the recovery plan „Next Generation EU“ presented by the European Commission. With this plan, the European Union is pursuing a direct fiscal policy for the first time, which will also set standards for the future. However, some aspects of the proposal need to be improved in the view of the AK:
- The linking of funding with the European Semester is to be assessed as extremely critical
- The ESF+ needs a significant increase in funding
- The REACT-EU-initiative is to be welcomed but the requirements have to be more concrete
- An increase in the volume of funds for direct agricultural payments must be rejected
- Funding must flow more quickly
- The EU Parliament and - at national level - Parliaments and social partners must be involved in decisions on the granting of subsidies
- Employees and consumers already bear the main burden of the EU budget and must not be burdened again
