BackPostal services are an important and indispensable part of the infrastructure. Even though demand and needs have changed significantly - particularly as a result of digitalization - the physical transport of mail and a reliable supply of postal services remain of great importance. AK is therefore committed to a high-quality, comprehensive, and affordable supply of postal services and supports measures to empower consumers and promote fair competition with good working conditions. The obligation to provide universal services must remain in place and remain affordable; its financing should be shared by all providers. In addition, there is a need for improved recipient rights, a sufficiently dense network of post offices and pickup locations, as well as binding quality standards for all delivery service providers. European standards are welcome where they contribute to fair competition and high quality, but they must take into account national characteristics and varying needs. Finally, the working conditions of delivery workers – who often work under high pressure and in precarious conditions – must be improved.
