The EU has adopted a forced labour product ban which will apply from 14 December 2027. AK has welcomed its adoption and calls for its effective application. On 26 June 2026, the European Commission has issued a preparedness package including the Forced Labour Portal and guidance on the implementation of the Forced Labour Regulation (EU) 2024/3015. The guidance sets out the obligations for authorities and companies. AK welcomes this guidance and views it as a key building block in the EU's forced labour architecture. However, several aspects could be further strengthened. AK EUROPA has sent a joint open letter to the European Commission together with trade unions and civil society organisations, calling for improvement of the guidance and offering to continue the constructive exchange with the Commission.
