BackAK EUROPA, the Brussels Office of the Austrian Federal Chamber of Labour, ÖGB Europabüro, the Brussels Office of the Austrian Trade Union Federation, the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC), the European Coalition for Corporate Justice (ECCJ) and Friends of the Earth Europe (FoEE) hosted the following event:
The adoption of the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) in May 2024 marks a paradigm shift and has been strongly welcomed by trade unions and civil society organisations. The EU committed to no longer tolerating profit-making at the expense of people and the planet. The Omnibus I Package proposed by the EU Commission in February 2025 introduces significant regulatory changes to the CSDDD with far-reaching implications for businesses, governments, and society at large.
In this event, trade unions and civil society representatives will engage in a dynamic exchange of views on the potential impacts of Omnibus I. This discussion will explore how providing a clear legislative framework that incentivises and enables responsible business is essential for the achievement of the EU’s sustainability objectives, human rights obligations and international climate commitments.
