Expert workshop: Mapping discrimination in Austria and beyond: Responses at EU and national level
Wednesday, 16th October 2019, 13:00h , Brussels

AK EUROPA and ÖGB Europabüro cordially invite you to the following event:

Date Wednesday, 16th October 2019, 13:00h
Venue Permanent Representation of Austria to the EU
Avenue de Cortenbergh 30 , 1040 Brussels
Yes, I will attend the event

On the occasion of a recently published study on discrimination in Austria, AK EUROPA und ÖGB Europabüro organise an event aiming at discussing responses to discrimination at European and national level. The event follows a two-fold approach: In the afternoon, an expert workshop provides space to map multilayered dimensions of discrimination and best practices. In the evening, a high-level panel will discuss policy and legislative measures at EU level.

The afternoon workshop brings together experts from trade unions, the European institutions, civil society organisations and NGOs.

Participants are invited to exchange on intersecting forms of discrimination in all areas of life and to assess potentials and shortcomings of anti-discrimination policy measures and legislation at European and member state level. Access to funding will equally be a topic of the discussion.

Keynote speakers

Daniel Schönherr (SORA) will present the main findings of the study “Cases of discrimination in Austria”.

Ursula Till-Tentschert (EU Agency for Fundamental Rights) will provide insight into the EU MIDIS-II project.

Igor Grabovac (Center for Public Health, Medical University Vienna) will talk about access to healthcare for LGBTIQ individuals.

The workshop is moderated by Sybille Pirklbauer (AK Vienna) and will be held in English. A light lunch will be provided.

Please note that the maximum capacity is 20 participants. We would kindly ask you to choose one participant per organisation. If you have accessibility needs, please contact us and we will do our best to cater for them.

In the evening, a panel discussion will feature the views of high-level policy makers. You will receive a separate invitation in due time.
