In the context of the ongoing Conference on the Future of Europe, the study "European Social Progress Pact: Alternative to the liberalist constitution of the EU internal market" by Prof. Florian Rödl will be presented for the first time. The Social Progress Pact ensures that market freedoms can no longer be used as super-freedoms by corporations to put pressure on public services, social rights and wages, while protecting against discrimination. This is as well of essence for safeguarding the collective bargaining systems of the Member States, which form the backbone of the European social model.

The webinar aims to make clear what consequences the market freedoms enshrined in the European Treaties have in the working realities of people and their interest groups, not least due to the case law of the European Court of Justice. At the same time, the European Pact for Social Progress will be presented as an alternative that could be implemented in the context of a possible treaty change following the Conference on the Future of Europe.
