AK EUROPA Policy Brief: Economic Governance - Focus on Sustainable Development of Well-Being

AK EUROPA's latest Policy Brief 2/2020 is dedicated to the topic of economic governance.

In June 2019, the Commission’s new president Ursula von der Leyen proclaimed her intent to refocus the European Semester into an instrument that integrates the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Together with the Green Deal – with “just transition” as an important condition – and announcements for a strong Social Europe, there seems to be a window of opportunity to refocus the European governance framework on the sustainable development of well-being. AK shows which steps need to be taken to ensure a real refocus and not just more sustainable wording in sub-chapters of the relevant EU documents.

The objective of our Policy Briefs is to summarize new developments in the world of workers and consumers in a short and concise manner, to present key findings and expose areas where political action is required, focusing especially on the EU level.
