That also raises the question as to how future free trade agreements could be structured in such a way, that they minimize any disadvantages to employment rights resp. whether they might even be able to improve the latter within the scope of the logics of these agreements. The Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Human Rights has prepared a study on behalf of the Austrian Federal Chamber of Labour, which focuses in particular on employment rights and social standards in the sustainability chapters of bilateral agreements and which is now presented to the public for the first time.
The panel consists of:
Astrid Steinkellner and Karin Lukas, Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Human Rights, authors of the study
Jörg Leichtfried, Member of the European Parliament
Peter Czaga, European Commission, DG TRADE
Sabine Boehmert, European Commission, DG EMPL
Tom Jenkins, European Trade Union Confederation
Moderation: Éva Dessewffy, Austrian Chamber of Labour
The panel discussion will be held in English.
Following the discussion we would like to invite you to join us for a buffet dinner.
