White Paper Transport –
Has the right course been set or could things end up on the wrong track?
Tuesday, 6 September 2011, 7 p.m.
Permanent Representation of Austria to the EU, 1st floor
30, Avenue de Cortenbergh, 1040 Brussels
With about 10 million employees and multiple times as many users, the transport sector is one of the most important service industries at EU level. Based on the new White Paper “Roadmap to a Single European Transport Area - Towards a competitive and resource efficient transport system”, the European Commission now wants to sketch out the course for the development of European Transport over the next 40 years. Are the proposals sufficient to actually achieve more efficient and environmentally friendly transport? Can employees hope for an improvement of their working conditions? What progress can the users of transport infrastructure expect? These and other questions will provide an exciting, maybe even controversial panel discussion.
The following speakers will be taking part in the panel discussion:
MEP Mathieu Grosch, Rapporteur of the European Parliament
Sandro Santamato, Head of Unit, European Commission, DG MOVE
Eduardo Chagas, General Secretary, European Transport Federation
Michael Nielsen, General Delegate of the International Road Transport Union in Brussels
Thomas Hader, Transport Policy Expert, Chamber of Labour Vienna
Moderation:
Domenico Rief, Chamber of Labour Tyrol
The panel discussion will be held in German and English and translated simultaneously.
Following the discussion, we would ask you to join us for a buffet dinner.
