A social Europe that creates jobs – this is our main demand as representation of the interests of employees. The European Union is still incomplete, economic goals continue to be much more important than social objectives.

Even if unemployment is currently decreasing, the total level of unemployment remains unacceptably high. The Lisbon employment objectives are far from being attainable. It is high time to complete the European project – in a way so that all citizens can profit from the EU, not only large companies.

This is the reason why we as AK advocate a Social Union, combining high competitiveness, full employment, social security and sustainable development. These are the objectives that we promote in Austria and that we also promote via our AK EUROPA office in Brussels. Employees deserve it!
